Negotiating and Resisting Texas'Culture Wars in MAS and Literature Classrooms

Join Dr. Cantu-Sanchez's Approaches to Teaching Multi-Ethnic Literature's graduate and undergraduate students as they lead the 2023 MAS Symposium focusing on the theme of Negotiating and Resisting Texas' Culture Wars in MAS and Literature Classrooms.

Students will present research papers and projects with lesson plans, activities, and resources exploring how they might approach the censorship of Critical Race Theory, racism, discrimination, and books in Texas classrooms.

We will also be joined by current MAS instructors from San Antonio schools who will discuss how they negotiate the newest laws aimed at censoring what can and cannot be taught in the classroom.
