The Center for International Programs presents International Education Week Global Perspectives Through Literature: A Speakers Series
Join us for a series of engaging 15-minute talks that explore world cultures, histories, and human connections through literature.
Dr. Jamie Crosswhite will discuss Khaled Hosseini’s novels as powerful windows into Afghan culture and the universal themes of resilience and family. Dr. Margaret Cantú-Sánchez will delve into the history of the Panama Canal with a reading of Cristina Henriquez’s The Great Divide, shedding light on its historical and cultural significance. Finally, explore the work of Han Kang, winner of the 2024 Nobel Prize in Literature, and gain insight into the South Korean perspective that her writing brings to global readers.
Each session will offer a unique lens on how literature can deepen our understanding of the world, making this series a must for anyone interested in global perspectives and the transformative power of storytelling.
