(B.A. '06), Assistant Professor of Higher Education for the Department of Educational Leadership and Policy Studies at the University of Texas at San Antonio, as she presents her empirical research and the work of other Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI) scholars to address questions such as, What does it mean to be a Hispanic-Serving Institution? Who are the Latinx students at HSIs? What is the organization’s role in their success?

About Sansone
Sansone’s research aims to advance equity and success for diverse student populations in higher education. Her current scholarly interests focus on studying college affordability, Latinx students, student veterans, HSIs and policy work.
Sansone co-authored an article on first-generation Latinx college students who work for pay while enrolled in college, and a book chapter on culturally inclusive approaches to address Latinx student postsecondary success at HSIs and emerging HSIs. Additionally, she has a decade of experience working as a student affairs and academic affairs practitioner.
For her service and scholarly contributions to the Latinx community, she has been recognized by the American Association of Hispanics in Higher Education and the Texas Association of Chicanos in Higher Education as a top Latina graduate scholar. She serves as the Cross-Division Committee Chair for the American Education Research Association Division J - Postsecondary Education. She is also the co-founder of Colegio en Nuestra Comunidad, a citywide college fair that promotes college attainment to low-income neighborhoods within San Antonio.
