The Scholar: St. Mary's Law Review on Race and Social Justice will host its annual Immigration Symposium, focusing on the practical aspects of immigration law and the current policy debates surrounding the field.
Attendees will have the opportunity to hear a variety of notable immigration attorneys, scholars, and leaders speak on current issues within the field of immigration law in the United States.
This CLE event is pending approval by the State Bar of Texas for 6.5 CLE credit hours (including 1 hour of ethics).
Immigration Detention Overview
Silky Shah, Executive Director of Detention Watch Network. The United States has the largest immigration detention infrastructure in the world with roughly 45,000 detention beds and continues to grow under the current administration. This presentation will include a short history of immigration detention, the changing patterns and trends over the years, and the current strategies that advocates and organizers are utilizing to prevent expansion.
